You In My Hut Now!

DJing a fashion show was…interesting. Originally, I thought I’d just be doing some quick mixes to keep things moving, and then I was told they would have someone speaking on each outfit, so I decided to go with instrumentals. That being said, I wasn’t sure what to go with that would have the right energy. So it was a mix of club/uptempo hip hop beats that I thought were the most friendly. The opening tune, Kid Sister – I’ll House You.

Dope update of the classic Jungle Brothers cut. Fresh production courtesy of Fool’s Gold labelmate, Treasure Fingers. Nice bounce to Kid Sis’ vocals as she does it up proper, and I don’t know of many people that are mad about this update. This was put together as part of a Reebok Classic Remix promotion with classic cuts getting updated (also in on it has been B.o.B. and Kidz In Da Hall) as well as the look on the Reeboks. Get it? “Classic”? Very clever.

I’ve used the OG Jungle Brothers acapella a few times to work with this with some decent success

Now that being said, it’s been done much better by DJ Mighty Mi, blending the 2 tunes back and forth. Cop it at the Fool’s Gold blog.

That being said, one of the tracks I’ve been dropping this acapella over with much more frequency (as I’ve been playing a whole lot more house) is over the Alan Braxe & Fred Falke – Intro. I remember this tune getting stuck in my head for hours as it was on an old mix of DJ Shelly (formerly of Wichita, last I knew, he was in KC, would love to get contact info on him anyone out there has got info). I played that CD to death, can’t remember the name of it though. Classic disco house stylings (if anyone’s got a copy, holla at me!) that was done VERY well, at least as far as memory serves. Falke was also a part of Stardust, along with Thomas Bangalter (of Daft Punk fame) and Benjamin Diamond on vocals to make “Music Sounds Better With You”. I think these 2 tracks can certify him as a club legend. Dude puts out quality, period. Anyways, here is the dope tune that generously samples from The Jets – Crush On You (2:35 mark).
